Being a college student on a budget, I am always looking for new and improved ways to save on food while not compromising quality. This seems like an impossible feat considering the limited food options near my college campus. In efforts to get some decent food (and avoiding my laundry and homework on this lazy sunday), I ventured into Moraga one Sunday morning and Found my local farmers market. I was amazed that there was a place that was cheap and accessible for students to get fresh produce and great food. So if you are a starving college student like myself, here are the top eight reasons why your local farmers market should be your number one stop for Sunday mornings.

The food they sell work with a student's budget

The most I have spent on the Farmers market is $7, and that bought me a whole breakfast and a venti coffee. All vendors are more than willing to bargain with college students, but most of the time you won't have to because everything is so reasonably priced.

FREE SAMPLES?!?!?!?!!

You do not even have to bring a wallet when going to the farmers market. There are a variety of free samples at every booth. From orange juice, apples, egg rolls, kettle corn and pastries there is always more than enough to eat without even touching your cash. Also, on select days they give out free souvenirs such as buttons and tote bags. I mean who doesn't like free things?

Girl Scouts are always there

Girl Scout Cookies season is upon us, and it's always so difficult to find out where they are selling. Luckily, they always congregate around the farmers market. So even if you're not in it for the fresh food, you can always pick up a box of thin mints or two on your way out.

Great Instagram opportunities

If your Instagram needs a pop of color, or if you haven't posted anything in a while, the farmers market is the place to take pictures. Everything is so colorful and you can get some great pictures of you and the food.

The food is FRESH

Everything at the Moraga farmers market is completely organic which means FRESH. Everything the sell is in season, and with one bite of those free samples, you will know what I am talking about.

Live music

Local bands and artists are invited to play every Sunday. It ranges from smooth jazz to Jack Johnson type music.

Gives you a break before you start homework or whatever you do on Sundays

Going to the farmers market actually gives you some time to relax before you start your Sunday. You have the ability to get off campus, wind down and be refreshed for work, homework or whatever!

Supports local farmers

Obviously by buying local produce, you get to support locals from your area. Many times they are selling their goods right at the booth and are always willing to chat and share their flowers, kettle corn or whatever with you!

So if your Sundays are saved for homework and grocery shopping or brunching and Netflix binging and embracing the lazy Sunday attitude, be sure to head to your local farmers market before all your Sunday plans.
