My weeks are generally very hectic. Between school work, family and a social life, it is difficult to find some time for myself to get away. Luckily I live in the Bay area where there are endless things to do. But having to constantly work in hustle and bustle of San Francisco, I decided to head up to Northern California to Napa Valley for a stay-cation. Let me tell you if you have never been to Napa, make it your next vacation because it is truly a foodies dream. Of course Napa valley is known for its wine, but the food and bar scene is to die for. Also its small town feel is great when you feel you need to get away. The first stop on my mini vacation was of course a bar. (After thirty minute of drive and a hectic week who can blame me?). After doing some research I found that the best new bar in downtown Napa can be found at the top of the new archer hotel. This lovely rooftop bar is the perfect place for anyone to sit back, relax and enjoy the view. And maybe a game or two of corn hole. After an afternoon of bellying up to the bar, I then decided it was time for a pre-dinner appetizer. Just a short walk away from the hotel is the Oxbow market. Here you can find a variety of fresh produce and other gourmet items. Gotts burgers is also right next store, so you better believe I stopped for some sweet potato fries and a mocha shake. It was safe to say I was too stuffed for dinner, but proceeded to eat more because I cannot say “No” to good food. On my walk home from my shake and fries, I stopped at mango on main to stuff my face with Thai food. The pad thai was some of the most flavorful, spicy, and vibrant pad thai I had ever had in my life. After dinner I proceeded to go into a food coma and went home to sleep off the food baby. The next morning I woke up early in order to walk down town to enjoy my morning almond milk latte from the Napa Valley Roasting Company. I sat in the quaint cafe until I had finished my coffee by some miracle was ready for more food. The last stop on my Napa food marathon was JAX diner. For breakfast I indulged in bottomless mimosas, beignets, and loaded tater tots made with jalapenos, cheddar cheese, avocado, green onion and bacon. To top it all off I also ate a veggie scramble and downed another cup of coffee on the way home. To put it simply, I had a great time in Napa valley. Everything from the food to the cocktails was simply amazing and I will definitely be returning for another foodie vacation.
