Once the festivities of halloween are finally over the holiday season will be in full swing. You will probably go home to see family and be bombarded by people in your home town that you haven't seen since high school. Your aunt will be nagging to see if you have finally gotten a boyfriend or when you will be getting married. You will definitely run into your ex at the grocery store because your mom sent you out because she forgot pecans. The dinners will be hectic, family will be crazy and hometown drama will pick up right where it left off since you left home. One thing that always keeps me sane during the three months of hectic holidays is friendsgiving. The only holiday where you get to choose the family that comes to your house, drink cheap box wine and have nobody ask you when you are getting a boyfriend or job or married or having children etc. Friendsgiving is arguable my favorite holiday because its laid back and you get to spend time with your closest friends aka the family you choose. Now when planning Friendsgiving there is no need to worry about the food. We all know that cooking a whole turkey is out of the question and no one can make sweet potato pie like your mama so here are some easy alternatives to food that will make Friendsgiving a breeze. I suggest ground turkey meatballs, Baked sweet potatoes with a maple glaze, and apple pie crescent rolls. Feel free to buy a premade rotisserie chicken and make a salad to top off the meal. But don't forget the most important part of friendsgiving, the friends. Find some amazing people you can say what you are actually thankful for, who will understand when you don't share any of your pumpkin pie slice and who you are comfortable showing off your food baby with. Don't get me wrong, thanksgiving is the time of the year to be thankful for your family, but friends are the family you get to choose. So dig in, have fun and have a happy Friendsgiving!
